BALENCIAGA

Balenciaga is a luxury Style house Situated in Spain by Cristóbal Balenciaga, a designer born from the Basque Country in Spain. The brand is now owned by French multinational company Kering. Balenciaga had a reputation as a couturier of amazing standards and was referred to as”the master of us all” by Christian Dior. His bubble skirts and strange, feminine, yet”modernistic silhouettes” became the trademarks of the home.

The House of Balenciaga is possibly one of the most influential forces in vogue and is developing into a significant player in the Luxury Goods industry. Founded in 1919 from Cristóbal Balenciaga and launched in Paris in 1936, it described a number of the best moves in vogue from the 1930s to the 1960s. Its provocative vision and design, the mastery of cut and techniques, the continuous innovation in cloth and the supreme talent of its Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquière, have been the keys to the House’s success.

Balenciaga  first opened on Avenue George V in August 1937. It was his first couture house, and his first fashion show featured designs heavily influenced by the Spanish Renaissance. Balenciaga’s success in Paris was almost immediate. Within a period of two years, the French critics lauded him as a fashion revolutionary, and his designs were highly sought-after. Carmel Snow, the then editor of Harper’s Bazaar was an early advocate of his designs.

Balenciaga creates and markets women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections as well as shoes and handbags. An eyewear set and a new woman fragrance will also be produced and distributed globally through a licence agreement.
