The Alexander McQueen brand
Was begun by Alexander McQueen in 1992. It had been by the proposal of Isabella Blow which McQueen use his middle name for its tag. The house’s early collections fostered its reputation for controversy and shock strategies (earning the name “l’enfant terrible” and “the hooligan of English fashion”), Noteable examples were his trousers called”bumsters” plus a group entitled Highland Rape. Alexander McQueen staged lush and lush runway shows, like a recreation of a shipwreck because of his Spring ’03 collection, Spring ’05’s human chess match, and the Autumn 06 show, Widows of Culloden, that featured a life-sized hologram of supermodel Kate Moss dressed in yards of rippling cloth. In total, McQueen designed 36 collections for his London label, for example his MA graduate collection.
Throughout his period as head programmer, McQueen was awarded the title”British Designer of the Year” four occasions between 1996 and 2003; he was also appointed a CBE and termed International Designer of the Year in 2003.
Following the acquisition, the brand’s catwalk presentations were relocated from London to Paris, starting with the Spring/Summer 2002 set with The Dance of The Twisted Bull on 6 October 2001
Alexander McQueen established its very first menswear collection in Spring/Summer 2005 and continues to show its ranges during Milan Fashion Week. The business established its first women’s pre-Spring collection on the runway with its men’s set on 22 June ’08 and has since continued releasing cruise collections since Spring 2010.
Alexander McQueen established an internet store in America in 2008. This was enlarged with an online store for the UK market in 2010.
